Jezera Biogas Plant with an Integrated Solar Power Plant
Client/investor: Panvita Ekoteh d.o.o.
Project category: Ecology and energy
Project timeline: 2009 - 2011
Project status: The project has been completed
Description of the project
The Jezera Biogas Plant is designed as a single-stage anaerobic digestion of organic substrate in a mesophilic temperature range. The biogas produced is used in a 1 MW co-generation unit. The heat energy from co-generation is used for the heating of biogas plant’s fermentors and stables at the farm. By using a district heating system, excess heat is provided to residential houses in the village of Jezera and to the Murska Sobota regional hospital. A 50 kW photovoltaic power plant was installed in the roof of the dry manure disposal site and supplies power to electric motors at the biogas plant. The biogas plant uses liquid manure, green biomass and glycerol as its substrate. The residual matter (digested sludge) from the biogas production process is used in the fields as organic fertiliser.
Project achievements
The project boasts high efficiency of biogas transformation (87%) into electric and heat energy and highly stabilised digested sludge.
