JEZERA BIOGAS PLANT WITH INTEGRATED PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER STATION

The Jezera biogas plant is designed as one-stage anaerobic digestion of organic substrate in a mesophyll temperature regime. The substrate of the biogas plant is manure water and green mass. Biogas is burned in a co-generation unit with a power of 1 MW. Heat energy from co-generation is used for heating of fermenter and farm stables while the rest is transported via district heating system to residential houses of Jezero village and to the regional hospital in Murska Sobota. On the roof of the landfill for dry manure, there is a photovoltaic power station 50 kW that empowers electric motors of biogas plant The rest (sludge) from the processing of biogas is used as an organic fertilizer on the Departments.

Department: Environment and Energy
Period: 2009-2011
Achievements of the project: high efficiency in the conversion of biogas (over 87%) into electrical power and heat and highly stabilised processed sludge as high-quality organic fertiliser. By integrating an electro-voltaic power station and remote heating, we managed to enhance the classic concept of a biogas plant.
