SEWERAGE AND TREATMENT OF WASTE WATER IN THE WATER CATCHMENT AREA OF THE SORA RIVER – MUNICIPALITY OF ŠKOFJA LOKA – CONSTRUCTION OF THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OF ŠKOFJA LOKA

The planning, design and construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Škofja Loka. This is a classic flow plant with suspension of biological sludge, anaerobic sludge stabilisation and tertiary treatment. From the anaerobic processing of sludge, the produced biogas is used in cogeneration, and all electricity generated in this way is primarily intended for own use, while excess is released into to the public distribution grid. The recipient of treated wastewater is the River Sora.
Client/investor: The Municipality of Škofja Loka
User: Loška komunala, d.d. Škofja Loka
Department: Environment and Energy
Period: 2011-2015
Short introduction: Plant capacity: 45,600 PE
Achievements of the project: In spite of the extremely high and fluctuating concentration of chlorides on the inflow to the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (8,000-13,000 mg/l), it functions with above average effective treatment. The quality of the effluent is well below the maximum values set out in the Urban Waste Water Directive
