SEWERAGE AND TREATMENT OF WASTEWATEER IN THE DOMŽALE – KAMNIK AREA – UPGRADE TO THE DOMŽALE-KAMNIK CENTRAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

A full adjustment of the existing Domžale – Kamnik Central Wastewater Treatment Plant with total reconstruction and upgrade to the tertiary degree of treatment. The project involved the construction of pre-treatment structures, new structures on the water line and new structures on the sludge line. The biological treatment process makes use of SBR technology. The recipient of treated water from the plant is the Kamniška Bistrica River.

Achievements of the project: For the first time, two new technologies were introduced in he sludge processing process: disintegration of excess sewage sludge using ultrasonic waves and reduction of nitrogen emissions in the wastewater flow after mechanical consolidation (dewatering) of sludge using selective microorganisms in the so-called deammonification process.
