UPGRADE TO AND RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CENTRAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OF KRANJ

Construction of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant of Kranj. This is a flow plant with a cascaded biological process that corresponds to 3rd degree treatment, with anaerobic stabilisation of sludge and additional filtering of treated effluent before the treated wastewater is released into the recipient. Primary and secondary sludge and fats are processed in an anaerobic digestor where the produced biogas is used for the production of heat and electrical energy. The recipient of treated wastewater is the River Sava.

Achievements of the project: Due to economic efficiency, less space required and greater flexibility for biological treatment, the technology selected was cascade technology with anaerobic sludge stabilisation, tertiary treatment and 3D filtration of treated water from secondary settlers to reduce the ratio of suspended particles at the outflow below pod 5mg/l SS.
